Assalamualaikum. I am aware that we should not have intercourse after menstruation before our menstrual habit passes.

What is the ruling if a women is sure about her period ending and it doesn’t usually return. Sometimes period ends a day or 2 before her last period.

Is it sinful to have intercourse before the habit passes?

The ruling that one should refrain from marital relations if menstruation (hayd) stops prior to ones habit is a precautionary ruling due to the great possibility of blood returning within a woman’s habitual place.

Even if one is sure that blood doesn’t normally return, it remains necessary to refrain from marital relations until the habit days pass. This is to avoid falling into the possibility of intercourse during hayd. In this situation, the scholars have ruled caution must be observed.
