Intercourse Before Ghusl
Is it permissible for a couple to have sexual intercourse when the wife’s period ends but before she had a ghusl. (At her habit and before 10 days)
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of truth
If a woman finished her menstruation before 240 hours (ten days and nights) and after her habit days have passed, sexual intercourse will be permissible after one of the following occurs:
- she takes a ritual bath (ghusl) OR
- a salat time expires since the bleeding has stopped – her bleeding must have stopped with sufficient time for her to perform ghusl and offer prayer (or at least say the takbir of prayer) before the expiry of the prayer time
Please note, despite the latter denoting permissibility for intercourse before ghusl, it is recommended for a woman to perform ghusl at the end of her hayd before engaging in sexual intercourse with her husband.
