My Hayd Changes During Ramadan
Assalamu alaykum,
I was due my haydh this week (14th April) but haven’t seen any red blood, instead I’ve been having yellow discharge and normally my haydh is always red and only yellow slightly near the end of haydh. Now, I have been getting istihaadha in my purity days and it’s been the same yellow colour. This has been going in for about 2/3 days but there’s not been a lot of discharge and it mostly comes at the time when one needs to relieve themselves. On your website I have read that if you normally get yellow discharge then the darker yellow will be haydh, however, I’ve noticed with mine, that the less discharge there is, the lighter it is in colour (it looks clear but is very pale) and the more there is the darker it is. I’m unsure whether this is my haydh or not and I do not know whether to fast and pray salaah and Qur’an or not. Is this classed as haydh?

In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of truth
It is quite usual for women in Ramadan to have a change in the colour, flow, or days of their menstruation (hayd). If you are uncertain of the colour of your discharge, the best way to verify is to use a kursuf.
The general ruling is that any coloured discharge seen in the days you normally menstruate (place of habit) will be hayd.
You have reached your place of habit and are expecting your hayd, so go ahead and count it as such. We may have to look back retrospectively to verify this ruling if you bleed beyond 240 hours (ten days and nights) or bleed in your subsequent purity days. Please continue to keep a meticulous record of any bleeding or coloured discharge.
And Allah knows best.
