Praying With Discharge
Assalamu alaykum,
I understand that if a woman sees discharge less than the size of the concave of her palm she doesn’t need to wash/change liner. Praying with this amount of impurity will be makrooh but valid .The question is what of she feels something come out (and is certain it is less than that size) makes wudhu & prays salaah then after a few hours the amount of discharge is more than the size of the concave of palm, does she repeat salaah?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of Truth
In order to pray, a woman has to first ascertain whether there is discharge on her sanitary liner or undergarments. If the impurity is smaller than the concave of one’s palm, the prayer will be valid, but disliked if it is not removed. If the amount of discharge is equal to or more than the concave of her palm, she must change her undergarments or place a fresh liner.
After a few hours, if the amount of discharge is more than the excused amount, she should make a reasonable estimation for when this could have happened. It is possible that the discharge could have accumulated, although she cannot be certain of that.
If she can say with absolute certainty that at the time of prayer the discharge was smaller than the concave of one’s palm, her prayer is valid. However, if there is a possibility that prayer was offered with impurity greater than the excused amount, she should repeat the prayer. If she felt discharge coming out, the best approach would be to check and remove the impurity before praying, thus being certain she is praying in a pure state.
And Allah knows best.
