Does Using a Kursuf Keep Wudu
Assalamu alaykum ww
My qusetion is regarding this extract from this website:
“If a woman is using the kursuf to determine the end of her hayd, she can place it between the labia minora. (…) However, if she is using it to block the exit of istihada or vaginal discharge, she will need to place it between the labia minora and ensure it is inserted slightly into the vaginal opening (farj dakhil). ”Does the wudhu break when the discharge/ blood of istihatha leaves the labia minora/when it is parallel to the edges of the labia minora or when it leaves the vaginal opening?
If the kursuf is placed between the labia minora and not slightly into the vaginal opening, is the wudhu kept intact?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of Truth
The vaginal opening is enclosed by two sets of cutaneous folds – the labia minora, which directly cover the vagina, and the labia majora, which are the outermost folds of skin. Click here for a diagram of the female anatomy.
When vaginal discharge or irregular bleeding (istihada) exits the vaginal opening (farj dakhil) and comes parallel to the edge of the labia minora, one’s ablution (wudu) will break. If a kursuf is placed between the labia minora and slightly into the vaginal opening, wudu will be intact as long as discharge does not exit the vaginal opening.
And Allah knows best.
